Episode Seventy-nine: O The Weather Outside Is...

Actually, fifty eight degrees and sunny...but I'm watching the news with all sorts of weather advisories for my old haunts in NY and...I know I'm nuts...I miss the snow.

I don't miss the grey or the slush, but I do miss snow.

Ah well...grass...greener...you get the picture.

Today, Chapters 6-7...there will be more monster...O Yes...there will be...

  1. I miss snow, too. I see all those pictures of the northeast and just sigh........it is 66 degrees here in Alabama today. But, I think it is because I am blocking out the memory of closed roads, snow slush all over the carpet, and how hard it is to drive anywhere when it is snowing. So, in a way we are pretty lucky. But one day of it would be nice.

  2. Heather, I'm so pleased that you're feeling better and are back to weekly podcasting. I missed you there for a while!

I kind of miss snow, too - but I have a feeling it's totally in a rose-colored-glasses-the-grass-is-always-greener-type thing. I HATED scraping ice off my car when I lived in Illinois.

  3. Just wanted to let you know that you are the only thing getting me through 4am feedings with my 2 month old!!! I throw on my iPod, get the bottle ready and feed him. It's so great to listen to the story and be awake for the hour he eats!!!

I think it's great that I'm able to take care of my little guy and still use my brain that early in the morning.

Hi Heather! Wow! How exciting --- I believe I am the winner to your November draw... Unless there is another Lisa in Taos! That was such a thrill to hear my name in the Podcast!
Thanks for your words and more of the great story!
Hope you have a wonderful holiday with your family!!!

  5. Heather, I'm still late to the game, but I thought I'd point out in light of your talk on motherhood today that it bears pointing out that Mary Shelley was pregnant during part of the time she wrote Frankenstein, and her first two children died. The parent/child stuff in this book is one of my favorite things about it, along with the creator/creation stuff. I'm sure her own experiences of fear about being a good mother, fear of her own death, etc. played into her work on this book. It's been one of my favorites since I was a kid (I know, not an obvious choice for a 5th grader, but I was like that). Keep up the good work!
